Training and Certification (TTS)

The University of Massachusetts hosts the Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Training and Certification Program. It is available to health professionals who wish further training.  All QUiTWORKS-RI counselors are certified TTS or are certification eligible.

Basic Skills for Working with Smokers (online course)

  • Can be completed as a stand-alone course and is a pre-requisite for the TTS Core Training. It introduces the basic concepts of theory and practice needed by health workers who work with tobacco users.
  • Cost: $150/person.
  • CEU’s available for several types of health professionals and a general certificate of completion for all other participants.

TTS Core Training (intensive 4-day program, in-person)

  • Designed for people who deliver moderate to intensive tobacco treatment services within a health care or community setting.
  • Cost: $1000/person.
  • CEU’s available for several types of health professionals and a general certificate of completion for all other participants.

TTS Certification includes completing both training courses, a written exam, documentation of practice hours, and a case study.
